Karate Kid

Kobe started Karate about 4 months ago and it's been the best thing for him! These are from his belt test where he could earn his orange belt. He is so cute meditating. He had a really hard time with his chicken jump and he fell on his butt, hard, two times before he got it. It was sad because I could tell it hurt, and he looked over at me ready to cry, but then he looked around at his karate friends and the other parents and decided to tough it out. After he kept saying, "mom, I was SO tough!" His teacher is really awesome and talks to them a lot about being a responsible person. I LOVE KARATE. All the stuff you try to teach your kids, reinforced by someone cool. Plus, anything that makes Kobe a little "tougher" is fine by me.

OOH! That's going to hurt!

I love Kobe - he's my little buddy. He just thinks of me as another grandma and doesn't get freaked out like most of the others. Good job Kobe - you are a tough little man!

Way to go Kobe! I also love karate. It is so good for their physical and mental health and gives them confidence.

Ashby and Bronson took it a few years ago from our neighbor, but then he was deployed to Iraq. He is home now, but blew his back out over there and can't teach anymore. Ashby and Bronson loved it and were both very good. Especially Ashby.

I would love to put them back in. Where do you go? It looks like the class size is small. I like that. Is that the whole class? How much do you pay a month? Do you have to sign a contract? Let me know or give me a call. Thanks.

I will have to remember this with zeb. I do love the things that karate teaches. Does Kobe try to hide polly pockets in his karate uniform pockets?

I love that little guy. How cute is that to be so tough. I guess it is a good thing to learn - there are alot of ouches in life.

Kobe's the cutest. Karate is awesome - I had Alex in it for a little bit a long time ago and he still talks about it. I need to get him in it again. Then Kobe and Alex could practice their moves on each other.

Kobe has finally kicked the polly pocket habit. He still loves them, but he doesn't carry them around 24/7. whew!

Valerie- He goes to Bobby Lawrence in Draper. The teacher is Eric Paige and he is amazing.

That's awesome. Gary was way into karate growing up - he really wants to have our kids do it too. Kobe looks so cute in that last pic. He's got a nice karate stance.

Hey again - I hear you are putting together invites for Gma's Christmas party. Thank You!!!!!!!

Here's the info that I have:

The party will be held at Lakeview Treatment Center @ 6:00. The address there is 1161 E. 300 N. in Provo. (When everyone drives into the cul-de-sac of buildings, Lakeview is at the very end - straight ahead).

Grandma will provide paper plates, cups, napkins, and plastic ware.

I think our Moms have worked out the food - with exception to a few assignments. But, those assignments should probably be on the invites?

The Miller fam will go early to set up tables and chairs - and what not. There are 8 tables that each seat 7-8 people. I think it would be nice to have people bring Christmas-y decos for the centers of the tables. I think Tyler can get table cloths ... I'll look into that.

So, anyway - we'll eat and do the white elephants! Maybe some of us can grab some DVDs for the kids (while the adults exchange white elephants) - and Christmas music CDs would be great.

OH - and clean up assignments ... do you want those on the invites? I can put that together - or just have a list there of things that need to be done. What do you think?

I'm so excited! I love this tradition ... I think we all do. And, I KNOW it means so much to grandma. Love you!

PS - apparantly that night is the Las Vegas Bowl - so, we might need to try to get a room with that going for the boys to peek in. Only peeking is allowed, though - they need to be mostly partying. :)
